Honors Chemistry Spring Final Review Question 16 f-j

Welcome friends,

WHO'S READY FOR SOME REVIEW ANSWERS?!?!?! WHOOP WHOOP

16.

F) HNO3 + KOH --> KNO3 + H2O
     (aq)        (aq)         (aq)       (l)
H + + NO3- + K+ + OH- --> K+ + NO3-+ H2O
H+ + OH --> H2
NO3and  K+ are spectator ions

G) 2AlPO4--> Al2O3 + P2O5      (Use oxidation numbers to find P2O5) (Put a triangle over the arrow because heat is used)

H) Ag + Al(NO3) --> No reaction (Ag is below Al on the activity series, so it can not replace it in the reaction)

I) Ba(ClO3)2 --> BaCl2 + 3O2  (MgO2 is a catalyst, so you write it over the arrow)

J) MgSO4 + CuNO3 --> Mg(NO3)2+ Cu2SO

    (aq)           (aq)              (aq)              (aq)
No Reaction- a solid needs to be yielded in a double replacement.

You're welcome.

  1. Wonderful post, Brandt. But I think you made an error. There aren't two NO3- ions in that equation. But other than that, looks good! Love the enthusiasm!

    1. That's strange, I don't see an extra NO3-... Thanks for keeping a watchful eye anyways!

  3. Brandt, excellent work! However, I'm not sure if you are aware that your arrows have turned into mailboxes. At least on my computer. I like the way you noted why the reaction didn't happen if it didn't.

    1. That is really strange... On my computer, it's just two dashes and a greater than sign. It must be a blogger thing, because on yours, the arrows come up as a's with an accents over them.
